HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training. Classes are quick (just half an hour in duration), but they are tough - you should expect to sweat! Sessions combine short (30 second interval) bursts of intense exercise (such as jump squats, burpees, press ups) with short recovery periods. The high intensity cardiovascular exercises aim to increase the heart rate and improve your fitness.
Evolution HIIT classes are based on the ‘Healthy HIT’ programme designed by The Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute. At your first class you will be taught the 5 Key Moves to ensure good technique (and so avoid injury), and your recovery periods will consist of lower intensity Pilates exercises designed to actively stretch the muscles you have just been working in your high intensity blast. It’s HIIT, the healthy way.
You don’t require any equipment for the class, all you need is a mat, a towel & a bottle of water to ensure you stay hydrated. HIIT is a great option if you are short on time and happy to work at a high level.
